Job Description

As Urban Designer/Planner, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams creating design and planning initiatives. Your role will include coordinating efforts both internally and externally including client facing efforts such as leading project meetings and community outreach efforts, designing urban design solutions, and creating well-crafted deliverables to both public and private sector clients.

What You Will Do

  • GIS and Mapping
  • Community, neighborhood and City-wide master planning
  • Campus master planning
  • Urban strategies and feasibility studies
  • Design Guidelines and corridor planning
  • Transit oriented developments
  • Large-scale urban infill developments
  • Mixed-use developments
  • Design Guidelines, corridor planning and development frameworks:
  • Prepare graphic/narrative reports and presentations that communicate the design process and concepts
  • Manage presentations and production of urban design and master planning projects
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Assist in programming client needs, managing budgets and project schedules
  • Contribute to office activities, initiative and learning programs
  • Interact through projects and other office wide initiatives with other studios and practice areas

Required Experience / Skills / Education

  • 3-5 years of experience in related planning and urban design projects
  • Planning, Environmental Design or Urban Design discipline equivalent required, advanced degree in Urban Design or Planning preferred
  • Strong knowledge of land use planning, residential, retail, commercial and mixed-use development
  • Proven background in creative collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, from concept through presentation
  • Knowledge and familiarity in working in a variety of urban environments
  • Knowledge of urban planning, zoning and policy
  • Ability to engage in and lead a community engagement process
  • Strong experience in 3D building massing and conceptualization
  • REQUIRED: Proficient in Rhino, AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch Up/Rhino
  • Working Knowledge of ESRI / GIS
