Assistant Planner

Job Description

The Assistant Planner is the entry-level classification in the professional planning series. The successful candidate will be expected to perform entry level professional work in the fields of current or advanced planning which requires the application of fundamental planning principles. Assignments are generally moderately difficult in scope, but within the design and procedural framework established by higher level employees; however, as experience is acquired, the employee will be expected to perform with increasing independence.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

One year of responsible experience in a municipal planning department (time served as an intern may be included).• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban or regional planning, architecture, or a related field considered useful in City planning.• California Driver’s License.• Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of GIS is desirable.  A full description of the position and desired qualifications can be found at: https://jobs.cityofbrea.net.
