Required Experience / Skills / Education
Who You Are
An effective team member with 5 years of experience supporting, and in some cases leading, all aspects of community planning relating to land use, public policy, community development and permitting. You have prepared, and have comprehensive knowledge of, policy planning, land use permitting, and relevant regulatory and environmental regulations and processes.
A planner who has significant experience working on federal, state, and local land use policies and regulations, especially related to sustainability, climate change, hazard mitigation, transportation, housing, and natural resource planning.
You hold a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in urban planning, geography, public policy, or an interdisciplinary field who can work with minimal direction for most tasks.
What You Will Do for ESA
Lead projects of moderate complexity and large tasks on complex municipal and private development projects being responsible for the development of planning and regulatory compliance documents in accordance with applicable guidelines and requirements while delivering assignments within budget and schedule.
Serve as a technical specialist, evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques and procedures then effectively communicating with senior staff and teaming partners to support policy analyses and permit compliance.
You will research, analyze and interpret social, economic, population and land use data and trends; interpret and apply applicable land use and environmental government codes, ordinances, and regulations and be the primary author of technical memoranda or reports.
Participate in and/or lead client meetings, present at or provide support at community workshops and public hearings.
You will also be responsible for preparing draft scopes of work and budgets for tasks and/or projects of moderate complexity for proposals or contract negotiations.
