Job Description

A prominent land use planning, consulting and entitlement firm located in the west San Fernando Valley is seeking a full-time Assistant Planner to support staff in project research, document preparation, and case management, as well as assorted administrative tasks.  Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:

  • Research, analysis, preparation and submittal of documents for various staff, clients and City agencies.
  • Assistance with the preparation, processing and coordination of land use and building permit applications and related documents.
  • Coordination of and preparation for meetings with clients, City staff, business organizations, community members and groups.
  • Performance of assorted fieldwork, including research at public agencies, project site visits, document retrievals, attendance and observation at community meetings, and the like.
  • Assistance with the management of project and case files.
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary and as skills warrant.

Candidates must have effective and persuasive communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.  Ideal candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team and prioritize assignments and demonstrative initiative toward meeting the goals of the firm and its clients.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

Seeking a well-organized, efficient, outgoing, strategic-thinking and problem-solving individual with either a bachelor’s or master’s degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Apple/Mac experience is helpful, though not mandatory.  Bilingual English/Spanish-Speaking a plus.
