Job Summary

AECOM’s Design, Planning & Economics (DP&E) team is actively seeking a Junior Planner to support a range of community planning, urban design, and economics projects. The DP&E team works in a collaborative manner to create general plans, master plans, community plans, specific plans, design guidelines, streetscape and corridor studies, economic and market studies, and a variety of design and planning solutions for public and private sector clients in California and across the United States. The group delivers innovative solutions and technical excellence to clients, while fostering a creative working environment that advances the professional growth of all team members. An effective Junior Planner will be a positive team-oriented professional with the ability to work collaboratively and in a self-directed manner.

This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. Required Experience / Skills / Education

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Urban Planning, City Planning or related field; Master preferred

  • Demonstrate excellent research, writing, and analytical skills to gather and interpret data, convey technical information, and assist in report preparation

  • Develop maps and planning diagrams, as well as graphic documents, reports, handouts, notices, etc.

  • Have strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for conducting public outreach, including assisting with the management of outreach processes, and organizing and facilitating public and stakeholder meetings and other community events

  • Be familiar with the use of social media, online tools, and innovative technology to engage the public in planning activities and gather feedback

  • Display a passion for working in a multi-disciplinary setting and supporting a range of project types, including public and private sector efforts

  • Possess the ability to work both independently and as a member of collaborative a team

A strong command of skills in the following platforms:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Illustrator

Additionally, GIS, Sketchup (or similar platform) and City Engine Revit skills are desired, but not required
