ASSISTANT PLANNER/ASSOCIATE PLANNER

CITY OF WASCO

 

The City of Wasco is seeking to fill one (1) vacancy for the position of Assistant Planner/Associate Planner depending on qualifications.

The Assistant Planner (Salary range $55,244 – $70,507) is the entry-level class in the professional planner series. This position, under direction of the Senior Planner, performs fundamental current planning work, assisting the public by responding to planning, zoning, and other site development related questions concerning building and land development.  The Assistant Planner will also participate in any or all of the following: advanced planning, environmental analysis, design review, growth management, and housing.

Required qualifications for the Assistant Planner include graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in city, regional or urban planning or a closely related field and one (1) year of planning related experience.  Bilingual capability in Spanish is a plus.

The Associate Planner (Salary range $59,492 – $75,928) is the mid-level class in the professional planner series. This position, under direction of the Senior Planner, exercises considerable independence in preparing studies and reports and making presentations on such projects.  The Associate Planner will also participate in advanced planning projects, environmental analysis, design review, growth management, and housing, and will work on diverse and specialized assignments.

Required qualifications for the Associate Planner include graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in city, regional or urban planning or a closely related field, and two (2) years of planning related experience.  Bilingual capability in Spanish is a plus.
