Job Description

Ventura County invites applications for a Commercial and Industrial Permits Section Planning Manager position with an excellent benefits package and salary range from $97,082.78 to $135,929.22 annually; salary dependent upon career experience and qualifications. This management-level planning position performs duties such as: supervises and coaches a team of professional planners, manages professional planning staff that processes mining, oil and gas entitlement projects, functions as a member of the Planning Division Management Team, reviews new development projects and Planning Division policies, and prepares and presents oral and written staff reports at public hearings before elected and appointed decision-making bodies.

Required Experience / Skills / Education

A combination of nine years of education and experience implementing state or local regulations that pertain to the extraction of natural resources (e.g.: surface mining, oil and gas production), Two or more years supervisory or management experience leading a team of professional planning staff, and experience working with elected and appointed public officials and bodies, and other public agencies and community groups.
