Job Description

PART-TIME JOB OPPORTUNITY

Hourly Range:  $14.80 — $16.67, DOQ

Final Filing Date:  March 25, 2019

Under supervision, the Planning Technician will perform a variety of administrative and    technical duties and analytical work in support of the Planning Division. Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to: Provide technical assistance to Department staff;  performs research and analysis of planning related matters, prepares and presents reports on research findings, with recommendations as to appropriate action; assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of various programs, policies and procedures; drafts  correspondence, reports and other documents; designs and develops forms, flyers, and other materials; responds to citizen inquiries, interprets planning and zoning programs to the general public, and provides technical assistance or makes referrals to departments or to other agencies as appropriate; and performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Experience / Skills / Education

  • Education requirement of enrollment in a four-year college or university with at least one quarter or semester of upper division classwork in Urban Planning or closely related field
  • Education equivalent to high school diploma
  • Possess a valid California Identification Card or California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record

  • This selection process will consist of an Application Evaluation (Qualifying) and an Appraisal Interview (100%).
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check which includes fingerprinting, pre-employment medical examination, including a drug/alcohol screening; and must be able to establish both work authorization and identity.
