WAGE & HOURS: $15.50 – $18.83 per hour, appointment is generally made at the beginning step. Approximately 25 hours per week.

Required Experience / Skills / Education
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Completion of two years college coursework or 48 completed semester units plus ongoing enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in urban planning (copy of transcripts must be provided with application).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: basic principles of urban planning; land use and zoning; California Environmental Quality Act; Subdivision Map Act regulations; architecture; landscaping; sustainability concepts; and general municipal government functions. Skill in: utilizing Microsoft Office. Ability to: read and interpret plans; respond to inquiries and complaints from residents, businesses, and developers regarding zoning and land use issues; perform research and policy analysis; prepare and present written reports for public hearings and meetings; communicate clearly and concisely; and work effectively with employees and the public.
License Required: Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.
GENERAL DUTIES: Under general supervision, duties include the preparation of written, visual reports on various planning matters; review of zoning, variance, conditional use permits, subdivision, design review, and other planning-related applications. Compilation and undertaking of special studies; conduct research for ordinances; assist with commercial and residential rebate programs; provide technical support to the Planning Commission; perform site inspections and project outreach; collaborate with other city departments; respond to requests for information at the public counter; perform other duties as assigned.
