Job Description
Provides legal advice and representation to the Board of Supervisors, Regional Planning Commission, County departments and County-related agencies, concerning legal matters on the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and in land use and planning law, including the California Subdivision Map Act (Map Act) and the California Coastal Act (Coastal Act).
Coordinates with County officials, other jurisdictions, and State, regional and local agencies on all aspects of CEQA, and land use and planning law, including the Map Act and Coastal Act.
Represents the County and County-related agencies in State and federal courts in CEQA and land use and planning litigation.
Advises County departments and County-related agencies in supervising third-party or outside counsel, representing the County’s interests in CEQA and land use and planning litigation.
Conducts legal research to advise clients regarding CEQA and land use and planning law, including the Map Act and Coastal Act.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
Three (3) years of full-time experience in the practice of public agency law* and/or civil law, with a specialty in land use and planning law, including providing legal counsel for CEQA related matters.
*Public agency law refers to experience working for the government of a State or political subdivision thereof; any agency of the United States, a State, or a political subdivision of a State; or any interstate government agency.
Admission to practice law in all courts of California.
