Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer, the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) will work in the Division of Research, Innovation & System Information DRISI’s Future Mobility Research Branch, developing research and Implementation efforts supporting the Systems Management Sub Division of Traffic Operations; developing and implementing a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration strategy for the next-generation transportation monitoring and management system. The Incumbent will work with the Office of System Development and System Metrics & Automation overseeing research activities on the State Highway System to improve mobility and multi-modality for all users by managing research and pilot implementation efforts of emerging technologies; leveraging AI and data-driven technologies to enhance data collection, analysis, and decision-making processes, revolutionizing the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of California’s transportation network.

Transportation Engineer Civil Exam

Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Electrical in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility. Eligibility for hire is determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) Exam. You must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
