Job Description
THE POSITION(S): Under general supervision, provide entry-level professional planning activities and services of the Community Enhancement Division (Planning). Assist planning staff performing a wide variety of entry-level current and long-range planning activities; provide professional and technical support; and provide administrative support to become familiar with the overall functions of planning. Applicants are asked to volunteer a minimum of 15 hours per week for a period of at least six months.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Assist the public with inquiries at the counter and over the phone;
- Assist with reviewing architectural plans for new residential construction;
- Assist with the new zoning code;
- Write draft letters, reports, and other materials; and
- Perform special projects and assignments as requested.
Required Experience / Skills / Education
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be a registered student (undergraduate or graduate) or a recent graduate (within the last six months) from an accredited university in a planning program or a related field. Applicants should have a basic understanding of planning principles, and possess basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge of Adobe graphic programs, Sketchup, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. Ability to read architectural plans.
EXAMINATION: Those applicants who appear best qualified based on resumes and cover letters will be invited to an interview to further evaluate their abilities.
